RECONNECTING WITH OLD FRIENDS

Similar to the swallows of Capistrano in California, the snowbirds are swirling in the skies of Texas, me included. This actually feels like the beginning of the year rather than the closing quarter of the calendar. It's the time I look forward to going south and enjoying the weather and reconnecting with old friends.

May I say it's also the time to quit worrying about the house up North, yard mowing, leaves, maintenance etc and simply coming down here to relax on the beach, scout Mexico and have fun on the golf course (plus the flea markets and shopping for the ladies).

I feel like we made several strides last year with improvements to the park, the shuffleboard, signage, rodent control, plus this website!!! (and many thanks to Helen for putting it together and running it), and I'm looking forward to continuing that this year and getting something significant accomplished for the benefit of all.

We also explored some capital improvements to the hall such as adding a covered porch on the south side to provide a little relief and protection from the weather for outdoor activities, especially for our full-time residents that have to endure the summer heat. That turned out to be a little pricey so we created a fundraising committee to help raise money to accommodate those kind of expenses without hitting the general fund too hard. Hopefully we'll be able to add those amenities in the near future.

We have had several new families moving into the park so be sure and welcome them when you see them and let's get them involved in all the fun stuff we do. Remember the park is a community that is comprised of a lot of individuals from different backgrounds and different goals, a beautiful tapestry that reflects the diverse culture of the valley and of the nation. Working together we can all contribute to making that tapestry even more beautiful and enduring for those yet to come.

Respectfully,
